Jung-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City, is launching an in-flight advertising campaign to promote “Ulsan Keun-aegi,” the region’s tourism mascot, to domestic and international air travelers.

This campaign utilizes the “Window Media” method, which involves affixing advertisements to the windows of aircraft. The plan is to repeatedly expose passengers to various images of “Ulsan Keunaegi” during their flight, thereby raising awareness of the character and promoting tourism and culture in Ulsan’s Jung-gu District.

Ulsan Keunaegi is a tourism and cultural promotional character representing Ulsan’s Jung-gu District. It is characterized by its story and character background, which are designed to convey the region’s history, culture, and tourism resources in an approachable way.

Aircraft Window Media is an advertising medium that utilizes the area around the cabin windows, where passengers’ eyes naturally rest. It is designed so that the scenery outside the window and the advertising images are visible simultaneously during takeoff, landing, and flight, allowing passengers to encounter regional or brand messages as part of their travel experience.

Ulsan’s Jung-gu District applied an “Early Brand Touch” strategy to this campaign, designed to ensure that travelers recognize the region’s mascot before they even arrive at their destination. The goal is to naturally expose travelers to the mascot throughout their journey, thereby sparking their interest in the region.

EMCG, a company specializing in in-flight media, was responsible for managing the campaign. The company operates advertising media both inside and outside the aircraft, including exterior wraps, tray tables, sidewall panels, and window displays.

EMCG explained that, with the growing prevalence of a “zero-click” environment—where users can access information directly from search results pages without visiting separate websites—the importance of strategies that expose brands to consumers before they even begin searching is increasing.

Maeng Se-gyu, CEO of EMCG, said, “Since travel is an environment where users’ interest and engagement are high, it provides a natural way to convey messages from local governments and brands,” adding, “We will expand campaigns that link aircraft with everyday media to help public institutions and brands reach travelers.”
